We get asked many questionns about our skip bins and their use so here are a few Answers to the most popular Frequently Asked Questions
Believe it or not, this is probably the most frequent question we receive.
We prioritise sustainability and environmental responsibility in all of our waste management practices. Our team is highly trained and experienced in waste management, and we offer custom solutions for our clients' unique rubbish removal needs.
If you have a large quantity (over a cubic metre) of a recyclable material like bricks, concrete, soil, green waste or timber, then it is best to get a separate skip bin just for that individual material. If you have a mixture of wastes, then you will have General Waste (Light or Heavy Waste).
The difference between Light and Heavy waste is usually bricks, concrete, wall and floor tiles, soil, rocks or large tree trunks or stumps. These heavy materials weigh about a tonne to a tonne and a half per cubic metre, which is about ten times heavier than light waste.
Light waste is usually made up of household items, packaging, furniture, whitegoods, electrical or electronic goods, clothes, toys, green or garden waste which weigh in at aboout 150 kg per cubic metre. If you mix light waste and heavy waste, you end up with more heavy waste, which is likely to cost more to dispose of.
Bathroom renovations generate mixed heavy waste containing ceramics (the toilet and tiles), carpet, concrete and other lighter materials like timber from cabinetry, plastics, metal and other random stuff. This mix is known as general heavy waste or heavy waste. Typically, most small bathroom renovations need about a 3 cubic metre skip bin for heavy waste. It you have a larger bathroom or are renovating more than a single bathroom, you will need a bigger bin.
Often, you can make Rubbish Removal less expensive by sorting the waste and separating heavy materials like bricks, concrete, soil and putting them in a recyceable bin. In this way you can avoid paying NSW Waste Levy on materials that can be reused or recycled. That's right, using a separate bin for heavy materials will save you money and improve environmental outcomes.
